Basic Rules Of Formatting A Science Fair Research Paper

Without the scientific method and the resulting research capabilities that result from the reliability of such a method, our base of knowledge as a species would be based on assumptions and superstition. Thankfully, this is not the case and instead, we posses a very valuable tool that allows us to structure the way we investigate mysteries as well as the way we present our findings to be reviewed.

When structuring a science fair paper, there are some simple steps to be followed that can make the difference between a paper that was obviously done by an incompetent student and one that was done by a student with the potential to become a great scientist one day. The following is a simple guideline that will help you to create a professionally done science fair research paper:

  1. Title selection
  2. When selecting your titles, be sure you choose a good one, many writers have started off quite well only to realize that they have no more to say half way through the paper. Your title should be a short sentence that will be placed at the top of your paper and should reflect what the paper is about.

  3. Formulate a practical hypothesis
  4. The first thing required in any study is a hypothesis statement. With this, you can state your opinion of a particular phenomena in such a manner that you are able to conduct activities that will clearly prove or disprove this statement.

  5. Do proper investigation
  6. There are many ways to do research and not all of them are acceptable. Do a little investigation into the generally accepted methods before you proceed. You must inform your readers of your chosen methods and why.

  7. Analyze your data objectively
  8. Data analysis is important, it involves making sense of the measurements gathered during any experimentation. Have someone review your assessments before you submit, this will help eliminate any mistakes you may have made.

  9. Select a suitable presentation method for you information
  10. This should come in the middle of your paper and you should select the best method for presenting the data so that it communicates your point to the readers.

  11. Formulate a data supported conclusion
  12. Your final statement will serve to clarify the purpose of your paper to the readers and give them a statement by which they can then view your evidence again, then come to their own conclusion. If done right, they will agree with you.
